One of the highest-volume UK sales searches every month is some variation of 'remote closer jobs no experience.' The searches exist because course sellers have convinced people that a weekend certification makes them hireable. The reality is more nuanced — and more hopeful, if you're willing to hear it straight.
Here's what 'no experience' actually means in the UK closer market in 2026, and the honest path from zero to your first commission role.
'No experience' rarely means what you think it means
When a founder posts a 'no closing experience required' role, they usually mean: 'you don't need experience closing on this specific offer, but you'd better be able to hold a professional phone conversation and follow a discovery framework.' Cold, no-sales-background applicants get filtered out on the first screening call.
The exception is appointment-setter roles — genuinely entry-level, easier to land, and the correct first step for someone with no sales background. Setter for 6-12 months, then promote to closer inside the same team.
What UK founders actually hire for at the entry level
Clear, confident spoken English. Not perfect — natural. You'll be on the phone for 6 hours a day; you need to sound like a person, not a script.
Prior customer-facing work — retail, hospitality, service, previous phone sales, even door-knocking counts. Anything that proves you can handle rejection and stay warm.
Written communication that isn't full of typos. Your first email to a founder is your interview.
Willingness to be recorded and coached. Founders won't hire a closer they can't review on tape.
The realistic path from zero
Step one: read one solid book on consultative sales (SPIN Selling, or Never Split The Difference for objection handling).
Step two: apply for setter roles first. £1.5k-£3k a month base + bonuses, remote, and it's the fastest way to be in the room hearing real closers work.
Step three: promote internally to closer after 6-12 months, or take a recognised certification like HTCA Certified Closer once you have real call data to build on.
Step four: apply to the PrimeClosers network. Roles show AOV, split, and OTE upfront so you're not gambling on your first commission role.
