When freelance beats a full-time hire
You have inconsistent lead volume, an unproven offer under 30 signed clients, or a founder-led sales function you want to hand off gradually. A freelance closer keeps your fixed cost down and lets you prove the offer before you commit to headcount.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
- What does it cost to hire a freelance closer through PrimeClosers?
- Browsing the network and posting one active role is free. Prime Employer is £249/mo + VAT (where applicable) and covers unlimited job posts, unlimited messaging and unlimited hires. The closer's own commission or day rate is agreed directly between you and them.
- What's the IR35 status of a freelance closer?
- Freelance closers engaged through the network are self-employed contractors responsible for their own tax and National Insurance. IR35 status depends on the working practices you set — control, substitution and mutuality of obligation. On Managed Placement engagements we provide IR35-friendly self-billing agreements; on self-serve hires you should take your own advice before setting the terms.
- Which engagement models are available?
- Commission-only, retainer plus commission, or day-rate. Each closer's preferred model is shown on their profile, so you can filter before you spend anything on contact. Fractional (a few days a week) and full-time contract arrangements are both common.
- How are freelance closers vetted?
- Every closer in the network is AI-assessed on live sales scenarios, DISC-profiled for working style, and LinkedIn or Loom verified before they appear in search. You see the assessment output, work history and a recorded intro before you decide to make contact.
- How is this different from Managed Placement?
- Self-serve freelance hiring is you doing the shortlisting, interviewing and onboarding, with PrimeClosers handling vetting, contracts and payments. Managed Placement (£2,000 + 15% cash collected) is us doing that work for you — sourcing, interviewing, placing and overseeing the closer, with IR35-friendly self-billing included.
- What if the freelance closer doesn't work out?
- Self-serve hires include a 30-day replacement guarantee — if the hire doesn't work out inside the first 30 days of the placement start date, we source a replacement at no additional placement fee. The window is fixed and has no invoicing or activity conditions attached.
